CHRIS MATHEOS has worked as a freelance bassist with bands in about every style of music. Here are a few of the bands you may have seen him with:
SPANKY & OUR GANG: 1960's chart busters. Best known for their hits: Sunday Will Never Be The Same, Lazy Day, I'd Like To Get To Know You, Making Every Munite Count. Chris has been a bandmember since 2007. The current band features: Elaine Spanky McFarlane (vocals), Florida Folk Legend Jimmy Carrick (vocals, guitar), Eddie Ponder (drums), Karen DuMont (vocals), and Chris (bass). They have had many guest performers join the band for shows including: Steely Dan Founder-Denny Dias (guitar), Bernard Purdy (drums), Nigel Pickering (original Our Gang


guitarist), Commedian/TV & Movie Star-John Byner (vocals), Vince Martel of Vanilla Fudge (guitar), Jumba Sulton of Jimi Hendrix' Woodstock Band (percussion).
BOBBY RADCLIFF: New York City blues artist. Best known for his albums on BlackTop Records. Chris has played bass with Bobby since 2001. Chris appears on Bobby's Natural Ball (2004) and Freaking Me Out (2011) CD's. The band has had many popular blues artists sit on on shows including: Hubert Sumlin, Steve Freund, Carey Bell, Dauna Greenleaf, Bob Margolin, Alex Schultz, The Holmes Brothers. The band has featured some great drummers including: Michael Lauren, Keith Hurrel, Bob Danielson.



THE ALL STAR BLUES BAND: featuring BOBBY RADCLIFF (guitar/vocals), RUSTY ZINN (guitar/vocals), MARK HUMMEL (harp /vocals), CHRIS MATHEOS (bass), MARTY DODDSON (drums). The All Star Blues Band performed west coast tour dates in 2009.
JIMMY "Fast Fingers" DAWKINS: Chris recently played bass with Chicago Blues Legend JIMMY DAWKINS. Dawkins hired Chris Matheos (bass), Bobby Radcliff (Rhythm Guitar/vocals), and Barry Harrison (drums) as his band NYC backup band in November 2011. At the age of 76, Jimmy was still laying down his unique brand of blues featured on his countless Delmark Records CD's.
MEL MELTON & THE WICKED MOJOS: Zydeco Band. Singer/harmonica player Mel Melton has fronted his own Zydeco/Blues band for many years. He is also known for his work as a sideman with Sonny Landeryth, CJ Chaneir, and Clifton Chaneir. Chris toured and



recorded with this band from 1998-2005. Two years full time. The band included many talented bandmates including: Scott Sawyer (g), Dickey Rakin (g), Eric Hanson (g), Tim Betts (g), Randy Freil (k), Evans Nicholson (d).
THE COASTERS: Best known for their 1950's chart busting hits like: Charlie Brown, Poison Ivy, etc. They have hired Chris on occasion as a freelance bassist.
MICHAEL FALZARANO: Best known as a member of Electric Hot Tuna. Michael has released many solo CD's on a variety of labels. Chris appears on the One World CD and has performed live with Michael and Long Island guitarist Kane Daily.
BUDDY REED & THE RIP IT UPS: Buddy is best known for his work with legendary LA Blues act Bacon Fat in the 1960's. Bacon Fat was fronted by George Harmonica Smith and also featured Rod Piazza. Chris has done many shows with Buddy. 2008-11.


NAPPY BROWN: Best known as the grandfather of Soul. Nappy released many top 10 Soul charting singles on Savoy Records in the 1950's. Chris played bass with Nappy in 2003.
CLINTON GREGORY: Country music star and Arista records recording artist. Chris subbed with Clinton in 2000.
CLARENCE CLEMMONS: Clarence is best known as a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Chris played bass with Clarence in 1993 with Nik & The Nice Guys. The entire Nik band was hired as Clarence's backup band. Chris was in his early 20's at the time.
DOUDA: AFRICAN Pop Music Star. Douda is a legend in Ivory Coast Africa. He has multipal gold albums. Chris played with Douda in 1998 while they were both living in North Carolina.
THOMAS Guitar GABEL: Blues Guitarist/Muddy Waters sideman. Chris recorded with Gabel in 1996 in North Carolina.
LITTLE TOBY WALKER: Long Island Blues Artist. Winner of The Memphis Blues Challenge. Shows with Toby include the 2005 Riverhead Blues Festival (NY). Chris played upright & electric bass with Toby.
JAMES CARRICK: Florida Folk Music Legend. Chris has played bass with Jim Carrick from 2007-current. Singer/songwriter/Travis picking champion.
ROOSEVELT DEAN & THE SPELLBINDERS: Syracuse NY Bluesman. Chicago Blues with Horn Section. Chris played full time with Roosevelt in 1995. They were the house band at The Dinasour BBQ in Syracuse (summer 1995).

UNSIGNED BANDS: Chris has also worked with many excellent unsigned bands (& really small label bands). Here are a few of his favorites:
JANICE PRICE: Jazz/R&B Singer. Chris played bass with Janice from 1996-2001. They played Jazz festivals, clubs, and private events, throughout the south. Chris regards Janice as "one of the best vocalists he's ever had the pleasure of backing up"............. Some shows of interest include: The Biltmore Jazz Festival (Ashville NC), The Black Dog Jazz Festival (Meadows of Dan, VA), 4th Street Jazz Festival (Winston/Salem, NC), Concord Jazz Festival (Concord SC), John Edwards Domocratic Party Event (Winston/Salem NC), John Edwards Fundraiser (at Maya Angelo's House), SECA Center (Winston NC), Sawtooth Center (Salem NC), John Coltrane Jazz Festival (High Pt. NC), Artsguild (kinston NC), Jazz Festival (Conway SC). Chris also played bass with Janice's musical/Billy Holliday Tribute LADY DAY.
THE CLINT WARNER BAND: Rockin' Blues Artist. Chris played bass with Clint from 2005-2009. Concerts, Festivals, Clubs, Casinos, Weddings and even AA Events. Chris appears on Clint's two CD's. His second CD was released on Network Pacific Records. The band is also featured on many Network Pacific Records sampler CD's. The band kept a core trio on all gigs with Clint (gtr/voc), Rob Anderson (drums), and Chris (bass). They used utility members Rick Nelson (k) and Ron Perry (h). Most gigs were blues based. The band also played Jazz, Classic Rock, and Swing gigs. They opened for many popular acts including: Greg Allman, Tommy Castro, Joe Bonamassa, Foreigner, Molly Hatchet, Joan Jett, Bobby Radcliff, etc.
JOHN HAY & THE RK (RhythmKings): Dallas TX based blues rocker. Chris worked with John from 1994-2001. He appears on the self titled CD. Chris first joined the band in upstate NY. John Hay (guitar/vocals) and Dave 'Lucky' Daunce (drummer) moved to Texas in 1997 and imported Chris regularly. The band won Best Blues Band award in the Fender/Motor City Blues Awards 1999 (Detroit based managment). Performances in New York, Indiana, Florida, Louisiana, etc. Opened for APB Band, Black Oak Arkansas, etc. Blues star-Brian 'Hashbrown' Callway would regularly sit in with the band in Dallas TX. One kick ass bar band!!
THE BROTHERS GOLDMAN: The San francisco FUNK MASTERS!! William Phillippe (gtr/voc), Joe O'Loughlin (drums), Erik Frykman (gtr), Simon Russell (keys). One of Chris' favorite bands to play with. Hard hitting New Orleans based Phunk with fusion overtones.
KAYE BOHLER BAND: South San Francisco Bay Blues/R&B singer. Chris worked with Kaye from 2009-2011. Festivals, Clubs, private events all over California from LA to Humboldt. Festival Performances include: Blues By The Bay (eureka), The Redwood Run, Monterey Blues Festival, Napa Concert Series, Seaside Concert Series (Monterey), Polk Street Blues Festival (San Francisco), The Little Fox (Redwood City), Jazz Festival & Winewalk (Sunnyvale), The Palms Theater (Winters), Lakeport Concert Series, Eureka Concert Series, Northern California Blues Festival (Auburn), Skypark Concert Series (Scotts Valley). Kaye has had many of The San Francisco Bays finest backup musicians including: Sammy Varela (gtr), Kelly Back (gtr), Terry Hiatt (gtr), Garth Webber (gtr), Ken Hurrell (gtr), Ben Flint (keys), Richard Palmer (keys), Martan Mann (keys), Mike Renta (trombone), Jonnie Bamont (sax), Marvin McFadden (trumpet), to name a few.
JOSIE WAVERLY: Country Singer from upstate NY. Chris played full time with Josie for most of 1993-94. Josie signed a development deal with Curb Records. Chris played the showcase in Nashville. They opened for many popular acts including: John Michael Montgomery, Tracey Bird, Charlie Daniels, Neil McCoy, Dixianna, Box Car Willie, to name a few. Festivals, Fairs, Clubs, Prota-potty circuit, and every woodchuck bar in upstate NY.
THE MIKE OSBORN BAND: Chris has subbed many gigs with this south San Francisco Bay Blues Rocker. Shows of interest include: The 2009 West Coast Blues Hall of Fame Awards Concert, The 2010 Hayward/Russell City Blues Festival, and dive bars from San Francisco to Pasadena..
PHOENIX: Progressive Country Band. Chis played bass on their 1993 Canadian Summer Tour. Over 50 shows from coast to coast. known as "The Rabbid Elk" Tour....
THE BOOGIEMEN: Upstate NY Blues Act. Fronted by guitarist Rick Wahlers. A versatile guitarist Rick plays blues and contemporary jazz. Chris appears on the "Roadwarrier" CD. Chris played many live shows with The Boogiemen in the mid 1990's.
YAYA: Lafayette Louisiana world beat band. Chris subbed the Lafayette Alive festival with YaYa in 1995. A excellent horn section driven band led by guitarist/singer Sheldon Skarrett.
NIK & THE NICE GUYS: Corporate Paty Rock Band. The official band of The Buffalo Bills Football team. The top grossing cover band in America. Chris toured with Nik from 1991-93. Performances include: The Cayman Islands (Brittish West Indies), Maui Hawaii, two super bowl trips (Miniappolis 92 & Pasadena 93), Festivals all over America & Canada. Celebrity Baseball & Hockey Events with Kellsey Grammer, Matthew Perry, and a endless list of Sports legends. Hired as backup band for E-Street Band Star-Clarence Clemmons (1993). Chris played bass on their musical Niceguys. He was also their chart book manager. An amazing experience for a 21 year old kid!!
DENISE BRUMFIELD & RUDY'S SHOES: Baton Rouge Louisiana Blues Act. Chris played regular gigs with Denise in 1995 while living in louisiana. Great music & people.
DAVE ISSACS: Nashville singer/songwriter. Chris toured with Dave in 2005. Shows included: Nashville, Memphis, Boone NC, Asbury Park NJ, Long Island NY, Corning NY, and Jackson, Mississippi.
MOLTON GLASS: New York Jazz Fusion band featuring: Mike Ernst (guitar), John Scanlon (keys), Andy Witt (drums), Rich Riffkin (per). Had weekly house gig on Long Island 2002-04. Weather Report, Billy Cobham, etc.
KINGDOG PETE EDSTROM: Long Island based blues/rock band. Chris did regular local shows with Pete & his wife Jenet in the early 2000's. Great music & people..
JOSEY WALES BAND: Long island NY blues/classic rock band. Chris played regular local gigs with The Josey Wales Band in from 2002-05. Led by guitarist/singer James Koleman.
